Pattern Overlay

The Pattern Overlay feature allows you to add repeating patterns or textures to your material, creating effects like fabric patterns, surface details, or animated textures.

Main Parameters

Use Pattern Overlay

Toggle to enable or disable the pattern overlay effect.

Pattern Texture

The texture that defines the pattern. This can be any repeating texture that you want to overlay on your material.

Pattern Color

A color tint that is multiplied with the pattern texture. This allows you to adjust the color of the pattern without changing the texture.

Pattern Blend

Controls how strongly the pattern is blended with the base material. Higher values create a more pronounced pattern.

Pattern UV Scroll

Use Pattern UV Scroll

Toggle to enable animated scrolling of the pattern texture.

Pattern Scroll Speed

Controls the speed and direction of the pattern texture scrolling. The X and Y values determine the horizontal and vertical scroll speed.

Usage

Pattern Overlay is useful for adding detail or creating animated effects:

  1. Enable "Use Pattern Overlay"
  2. Assign a pattern texture
  3. Adjust the Pattern Color to tint the pattern
  4. Set the Pattern Blend to control the strength
  5. For animated patterns, enable UV Scroll and adjust the scroll speed

Pattern Overlay can be used to create various effects:

  • Fabric patterns like plaid, stripes, or polka dots
  • Surface details like scratches, cracks, or noise
  • Animated effects like flowing water, energy fields, or pulsing patterns
  • Decorative elements like symbols, logos, or designs

The Pattern Overlay is applied after the base color but before effects like emission and rim lighting, allowing these effects to interact with the pattern.
