Lighting Settings

The Lighting Settings section controls how light interacts with your material, allowing you to create stylized toon shading effects.

Main Parameters

Ambient Multiplier

Controls the brightness of ambient lighting. Higher values make shadowed areas brighter.

Indirect Light Min Color

Sets the minimum color for indirect lighting. This ensures that shadowed areas don't become too dark.

Shadow Mask

A grayscale texture that controls where shadows appear on your model. White areas receive less shadow, while black areas receive more shadow.

Shadow Strength

Controls the intensity of shadows. Higher values create more pronounced shadows.

Shadow Color

Sets the color of shadowed areas. This allows you to create colored shadows for stylistic effects.

Light Falloff

Controls the transition between lit and shadowed areas:

  • Light Falloff Start: Determines where the shadow begins
  • Light Falloff End: Determines where the shadow ends
  • Light Falloff Color: Sets the color of the transition area
  • Light Falloff Smoothness: Controls how smooth the transition is between light and shadow

Usage

The Lighting Settings are essential for creating the toon shaded look:

  1. Adjust the Ambient Multiplier to set the overall brightness
  2. Configure the Light Falloff parameters to control the shadow edge
  3. Use the Shadow Mask to define specific areas that should receive more or less shadow
  4. Adjust the Shadow Color to match your art style

For more advanced toon shading effects, consider enabling the Advanced Toon feature, which provides additional control over the shading gradient.
