Brightness Limits
The Brightness Limits feature allows you to control the minimum and maximum brightness values in your material, preventing colors from becoming too dark or too bright.
Main Parameters
Brightness Lower Limit
Sets the minimum brightness value for the material. Areas that would normally be darker than this value will be brightened to match this threshold. This helps prevent shadows from becoming too dark.
Brightness Upper Limit
Sets the maximum brightness value for the material. Areas that would normally be brighter than this value will be darkened to match this threshold. This helps prevent highlights from becoming too bright or washed out.
Usage
Brightness Limits are useful for maintaining a consistent stylized look:
- Adjust the Brightness Lower Limit to ensure shadows don't become too dark
- Set the Brightness Upper Limit to prevent highlights from becoming too bright
These settings are particularly useful for:
- Creating a consistent toon shaded look across different lighting conditions
- Preventing loss of detail in very dark or very bright areas
- Maintaining a specific artistic style that requires controlled brightness ranges
- Ensuring readability of characters or objects in varying lighting environments
The Brightness Limits affect the final color after all other shading calculations, including lighting, emission, rim lighting, and other effects.
