Rim Shade

Rim Shade creates a darkened effect along the edges of your model, adding depth and enhancing the silhouette. Unlike Rim Light which adds brightness, Rim Shade darkens the edges.

Main Parameters

Use Rim Shade

Toggle to enable or disable the rim shade effect.

Rim Shade Width

Determines how far the rim shade extends from the edge of the model.

Rim Shade Power

Controls how quickly the rim shade fades. Lower values create a wider rim shade, while higher values create a narrower, more defined edge.

Rim Shade Color

Sets the color of the rim shade. This is typically a darker color to create a shadowed edge effect.

Usage

Rim Shade is useful for creating the appearance of depth and enhancing the silhouette of your models:

  1. Enable "Use Rim Shade"
  2. Adjust the Rim Shade Width to control how far the effect extends
  3. Set the Rim Shade Power to control the fade-off
  4. Choose a Rim Shade Color that complements your material (typically darker than your base color)

Rim Shade can be used alone or in combination with Rim Light to create more complex edge effects. When used together, they can create a stylized look with both light and dark edges depending on the viewing angle.
